The
FBI conducted a two and a half
year investigation into the Jewish Defense League allegedly trying
to extort money from Tupac Shakur and Eazy E. The JDL apparently
phoned the two stars and made death threats against them. The
probe lasted from October 17, 1996 until May 18, 1999, when the
investigators couldn’t prove anything against the JDL. According
to one memo, Eazy E paid a security consultant $1,000 per week,
because he took the death threats seriously. The information on
Tupac Shakur was mostly erased by the FBI before being released
to the public. According to Sonicnet, the files outraged The JDL,
claiming that the organization offered protection to Eazy after
Suge Knight threatened the rapper.
