Ray "Benzino"

Scott, co-owner of The Source magazine entered into an agreement with Florida

state prosecutors and will avoid jail time, after being arrested for a confrontation

with a police officer during the 2001 Source Awards.

Scott pleaded no

contest to driving with a suspended license and reckless driving. All of the

charges were either reduced or dismissed against Scott. He was ordered to pay

$2500 to the Miami Beach Police Officer Assistance Fund and $471 in court costs.

He was also placed on 12 months unsupervised probation. Scott was not present

in court.

Police pulled Scott

over in August of 2001 after the Source Awards for speeding. Officer Robert

Silvagni claimed that Scott became verbally abusive and punched and kicked the

officer. Benzino claimed that the officer was profiling and that the officer

punched him in the jaw as he sat with his hands on the steering wheel.
