On Friday, October 18, violence erupted at a Nelly

concert at the Coors Amphitheater in Chula Vista, California, where one victim

died and another remains hospitalized.

Faitamai Taunuu, 30, died Saturday of multiple

stab wounds he suffered in an attack during the concert and another fan, Sean

Bowers, 27, was also stabbed, but remains in good condition.

Police charged Hank Banegas, 26, and his uncle

Steven Francis TeSam, 42, both of Alpine, California, with investigation of

murder and attempted murder. An unidentified 16-year-old boy, who has been detained

in a juvenile facility, was also charged with conspiracy.

Banegas, and TeSam, an Indian tribe official,

are being held without bail. TeSam took over as chairman of the Viejas Band

of Kumeyaay Indians, which operates the Viejas Casino about 30 miles away from

San Diego, in December 2000. Bobby Barrett, vice chairman of the tribe, said

details of the incident were sketchy. “The Viejas community is deeply upset

and very concerned, and we are anxiously awaiting details,” he said. “Right

now we just don’t have any facts.”
