The College Dropout was nominated for a Stellar Gospel Music Award on

the strength of his hit single, “Jesus Walks.”

West’s album

is up for Best Gospel Rap Album. The nomination is drawing criticism from other

gospel groups, who claim that the lyrics on the rest of the album could offend

listeners.

Officials for the

Academy said that they made mistakes during the nomination process, but didn’t

clarify if West’s nomination would be removed.

Other Christian

groups nominated include Tonex, Ziklag and God’s Little Soliders.

The Stellar Gospel

Music Awards take place in Houston, Texas on January 15.
