A charity event
at Alabama’s Montgomery Mall, where Atlanta-based rapper
Ludacris made an appearance, was forced to shut down Thursday
(Dec. 9) following two altercations according to reports.
Ludacris was reportedly
in the midst of signing autographs and posing for pictures at the mall’s new
Citi Gear store, when police could not
control the crowd and asked the rapper to leave.
Ludacris was scheduled
for two hours, but left after about 20 minutes. "I would have liked to
stay, but I understand I was part of the problem," Ludacris told told The
Montgomery Advertiser.
About 100 people
showed up to the event and had been waiting more than 30 minutes for Ludacris
to arrive.
"We expected
a lot of people to show up but not to this degree," said Kristy
Jansen, marketing director at Montgomery Mall.
One participant
argued that security was ill-prepared for Ludacris’ appearance and said the
atmosphere was potentially dangerous.
Montgomery police
said there were no arrests.
Ludacris contributed
about $300 in toys to the WZHT Hot 105/Magic 97 13th annual Children of Christmas
Campaign for the charity event he
attended.
