Ja Rule is reportedly scheduled to appear in court today (March 7) in Toronto, Canada on charges of assault causing bodily harm.

The charge stems from an incident in June 2004 at the La Rouge nightclub in Toronto’s entertainment district.

Rule’s lawyer, Steve Skurka, said the charge was the result of an alleged punch, which was initially reported as a stabbing.

While Skurka declined yesterday to state whether Rule would plead innocent to the charges, last year the lawyer said his client would plead not guilty.

Rule, who was released on $10,000 bail, previously appeared in court for possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.

The Queens rapper celebrated his 29th birthday last week in Australia.
