C-Murder: Murder Was The Case

feat_cmurder

The way Corey “C-Murder” Miller has been in the press recently, you’d think it was 1998. With his forthcoming The Truest S**t I Ever Said on the way, C stirred everybody up with his new video shot behind bars of his Louisiana prison. C-Murder promises his next record to truly rile up the masses. Given the buzz, perhaps No Limit’s legacy may be rebuilt from behind bars.

C-Murder definitely has some stories to tell. Hence the new battle scars, frame of mind and new album. C-Murder opens up his cell, his mind, and his heart to AllHipHop.com and it’s readers explaining how a soldier stays TRU to family, friends, lovers, and an industry that has all but turned their backs on the onetime President of No Limit Records. What you read is likely to astonish you.

AllHipHop.com: How does it feel to go from waking up in a king size bed next to a woman you love to having someone else tell you when to eat sleep and s**t?

C-Murder: Man, I hate that s**t. Stupid ass deputies telling me what to eat and all that. Then, if I don’t do it, they want to write a n***a up and put me in lock-down. So that’s my big thing in here.

AllHipHop.com: Since you’ve been in jail, have you had people try and test you?

C-Murder: Nah,‘cause they know where I’m from, and what I’m about. Don’t nobody try nothing with me, ‘cause they know.

AllHipHop.com: However, you’ve had run-in’s with some of the authority figures in there. What’s that about?

C-Murder: You know everybody wanna be gangsta and show what they about. See if they try me and I bend, it makes them look like somebody. I’m already somebody, so what I got to prove? Now what people out there don’t know is, is that this right here is a very racial area. They got people working in here that don’t see nothing but “n***ers.” I had [deputies] say something out the way to me, I respond next thing I know I’m in lock-down. They wanna try and add more charges to what I’m already facing to keep me in here. That’s their plan.

AllHipHop.com: For those who haven’t seen it, tell us about your video?

C-Murder: Basically it’s me, showing what I do. It’s showing that I ain’t gone stop ‘cause I’m in here. I’m letting people know, I’m still shaking, still moving, even though I’m in the situation I’m in. I’m still making good music.

AllHipHop.com: The video is you behind the bars, how did you manage that? I thought that was against policy.

C-Murder: Well you know, it happens. That’s just about it.

AllHipHop.com: Seriously, what else did you want the streets to know with that video?

C-Murder: That I ain’t changed. I ain’t coming with all that new stuff that’s happening in the industry as far as Rap. Everybody switching they style to be like somebody else. That ain’t me or my style. I’m still do what C-murder do. It’s gutter, getting the point across. I’m letting them know how I feel. How it’s been for a n***a the past couple years. I’m spitting how I been spitting, since I started in this game, ya heard?

AllHipHop.com: So it’s like a mini introduction to the new album The Truest S**t I Ever Said?

C-Murder: Yeah, you feel me. Somebody gotta speak for me cause I’m in here. People that I thought would be pushing for me and my album, ain’t around. So I had to do what I had to do so everybody knew what was going on with C-Murder.

AllHipHop.com: Who is on the album?

C-Murder: Well, you know I have the joint with B.G. on it…”Y’all Heard Me.” T.I and Trick Daddy. Soulja Slim – rest in peace. My man Capone. It’s blazed. I got showed a lot of love from people. ‘Cause they know what I’m trying to do.

AllHipHop.com: I noticed that Master P wasn’t mentioned. No collabo’s with your family on this one?

C-Murder: Well, you know he was supposed to be on it, but we just couldn’t ‘t link up. He was busy doing this and that. I mean, it happens.

AllHipHop.com: But he did manage the time to record that new TRU album. With you being in there, how did you find out about that album?

C-Murder: Folks in here, coming up and asking me about it. I had no idea there was an album feel me? Then after the fact I got just this call like, we did an album. So that’s how it went.

AllHipHop.com: Do you think P and Silkk should have waited to put the album out?

C-Murder: Yeah, they should’ve waited on me, ya heard me? Let me be there and lace that thang up. Do it together, collaborate together like we been doing. Letting me do my thang is like sacred.

AllHipHop.com: Do you get any money from sales of the album?

C-Murder: Nah, cause of where I am. Which is another reason why they should have waited. I got kids to feed. [I have other] responsibilities too.

AllHipHop.com: Some people say it sounds pasted together. Was the material used old or new?

C-Murder: It was all old – at least a couple years. I feel like they just should have waited on me. Seen how it worked out with my case. You see, I’m recording now. We could’ve done that thang right, feel me?

AllHipHop.com: So, it’s more like a break in communication. Isn’t this something that should have maybe been discussed during visits?

C-Murder: [Laughs] Visits?

AllHipHop.com: Your family has visited you since you’ve been in there, holding you down, I’m sure.

C-Murder: Yeah, I’m good. I gotta thank my grandmoms, cousins, and my girl for holding me down. I mean my brothers have done what they could do.

AllHipHop.com: How many times have Master P and Silk visited you?

C-Murder: You get straight to it. [laughs]

AllHipHop.com: Well, I know your time is limited.

C-Murder: Silkk, he been here man…at least a couple of times…you know making sure a n***a all right and everything. And mad calls from everyone. Jay, Capone, came through just to make sure a n***a was good.

AllHipHop.com: And Master P?

C-Murder: Once. ‘Cause he all busy and everything.

AllHipHop.com: Has Monica visited you more than that?

C-Murder: Monica who? [laughs] The new album tells you everything you need to know about my current relationship status, as far as that. So everybody get that in stores March 22nd. The Truest S**t I Ever Said. I spit truth all over it.

AllHipHop.com: Speaking of which, you’re not afraid that anything you say on the album will be used against you in court, when you go for your retrial?

C-Murder: Nah, ‘cause it ain’t have nothing to do with my case, feel me? Everything I spit lyrically, ain’t have nothing to do with my case. We ain’t even dealing with that right now. We dealing with the elements of the streets and me getting my point across and what I think needs to be said. As far as going into my case, I’m staying away from that until after it’s all over and done. Then I can let everybody know what was really going on.

AllHipHop.com: How’s it coming along with the new trial?

C-Murder: It’s coming along alright. I had to get me some investigators on it. S**t wasn’t right with that first trial.

AllHipHop.com: Why exactly?

C-Murder: They was trying to set a n***a up. All these witnesses against me – they family getting favors and s**t. My lawyers had people who were there that night at the club, swear it wasn’t me. Some of them didn’t make it to the stand. I look up and all I see from my table is jealous n***as, getting they records cleaned while s**tting on mine. It was just corrupt man, lawyers, judge, witnesses. Ya heard me. I’m gone make it through it. I’m a soldier.

AllHipHop.com: What’s the first thing you want to do when you do get outside the gates?

C-Murder: Holla at my kids. Spend time with them you know. Holla at the fam. Get back to work and on top of the game. Not just with Rap, but with everything. Clothing, movies, you name it.

AllHipHop.com: In the meantime, if your fans want to hold you down, what should they do? Can they write you?

C-Murder: You know they can. I won’t be able to answer each one with a real long personal response, but I promise, I will write back. Even if it’s just to say thanks for holding a n***a down. Sometimes all you have in here is a letter to keep you up.

AllHipHop.com: Thanks for talking to us. Stay up, and in touch with us.

C-Murder: I love y’all for that, man. Y’all den kept it real for me since this s**t started. I’m thankful, ya heard me.
