Turntablist enthusiasts

will be treated to all-star DJ jams over the summer, thanks to Shure Recording

Needlez, Rane, Serato and Tools of War.

“Turntablist

Sessions” at Rufus King Park and Crotona Park will bring together three

decades of legendary DJs to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the creation of

“scratching.”

DJ Red Alert, Grand Master Caz, The Original Jazzy Ja, Rob Swift, Luvbug Starski,

Cutfucious, Shiftee and scratch inventor GrandWizzard Theodore will perform

over four nights in June and July to display the art of the DJ.

Hip-Hop historians

state that scratching was invented by GrandWizzard Theodore in 1975, at the

age of 13. The legendary DJ will be on hand for all 4 evenings as both a host

and performer.

The free, all-age

concerts kick off June 9 and run through July 28. Below is a full itinerary:
