John Singleton’s

latest movie “Four Brothers” topped the box office, pulling in over

$21 million over the weekend.

Singleton’s movie bested the new thriller "The Skeleton

Key" which took in over $15 million.

“I’m happy on the $21 million dollar opening of

‘Four Brothers,’” Singleton told AllHipHop.com. “We

knew we made a great movie.”

The movie stars Outkast group member Andre “3000”

Benjamin, Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson and Garrett Hedlund.

The actors play four adopted brothers from Detroit, Michigan.

The brothers – two black and two white – reunite after their mother is

killed in a grocery store robbery.

After they realize their mother was actually the target, the

four go after the killer seeking revenge.

The movie also stars Terrence Howard, who received rave reviews

in “Hustle & Flow,” a centered around Hip-Hop music that Singleton

produced.

“’Hustle & Flow’” has made $20.6

million so I am having a ‘Singleton’ one-two punch summer,”

Singleton said.

“Four Brothers” also marks the feature film debut

of Andre “3000” Benjamin, who is making a major push into the movie

business.

Benjamin recently

inked a deal to produce movies and television series for Viacom’s MTV

and Nickelodeon cable television channels.
