With the 4 year anniversary of the Iraq War coming upon us on Mar. 17, groups of protestors have decided to take action against the current administration by launching Impeach ’07.

The campaign to pursue the immediate impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney through widespread public protest, creative dissent, media activism, education, and coordinated lobbying launched yesterday (Feb. 22).

This impeachment issue has spawned support from a slew of participating organizations, which

represent hundreds of thousands of antiwar, impeachment, military family peace, youth, and women activists and lawyers.

Some of the participating organizations include After Downing Street, Backbone Campaign, Center for Constitutional Rights, Citizens Impeachment

Commission, Green Party of the United States and the Hip Hop Caucus.

The non-profit, non-partisan membership association was created to establish a national and international coalition of pop-culture, social, and political organizations.

“While the Bush Administration spends hundreds of billions of dollars on an immoral and unjust war, millions of people across America are without

basic healthcare, housing, education and jobs,” explained The Reverend Lennox Yearwood. “More than a year after Hurricane Katrina, the people of New Orleans remain abandoned by an administration that was criminally negligent of its duty to provide for their well-being.”

Beginning in early to mid-March, a series of events are scheduled to educate the masses about Impeach 07’s campaign objectives.

On Mar. 2-4, Cindy Sheehan, the founder of Gold Star Families for Peace, will head “The Town Meeting Democracy Tour,” a three-day tour of Vermont to raise support for President Bush’s impeachment and withdrawal of troops

from Iraq.

This will be followed by a Mar. 17 march on the Pentagon for peace and impeachment.

A “Make Hip-Hop Not War” bus tour promoting peace and impeachment will also run from Mar. 19 April 2.

“Enough is enough. If we do not demand impeachment of Bush and Cheney for war crimes, the entire world will be facing endless death and devastation,” said supporter Elaine Brower, mother of a U.S. Marine who has served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

“We are allowing our government officials free reign to wreak havoc unless we, the people, get a backbone to stop them,” Brower said.
