Activist Kevin Powell, actor Hill Harper and Dr. Michael Eric Dyson will headline the Black Male Conference Male in America Conference, which takes place this weekend, from June 15-17 in New York.

Hip-Hop pioneer and Power 105.1 radio personalities Ed Lover and DJ Kut will host a townhall meeting, which takes place on Friday (June 15) at Hanson Place Central United Methodist Church, located at 15 Hanson Place, at the corner of St. Felix in downtown Brooklyn.

Highlights of the three-day conference include “The State of Black Males in America” town hall meeting, the “Hip-Hop, Manhood, and Mentoring” public conversation, and a VIP reception for the premiere of Ray Upchurch’s film Daddy Hunger.

Although the conference is targeting the male audience, the conference events are open to both males and females, except on Saturday, when all of the daily workshops will focus on the plight of male’s only.

Other notables that will speak throughout the week include filmmaker Byron Hurt (Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes) Hip-Hop activist Davey D. and AllHipHop.com founder Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur.
