Rap pioneer Kurtis ‘Blow” Walker has been selected to serve as an MC for the eighth annual Holy Hip-Hop Artist Showcase and Music awards.

 

The event, hosted by the Fellowship of Holy Hip Hop, will take place Jan. 18-19, 2008 at Center Stage Arena (formerly known as Earthlink Live Arena) in downtown Atlanta, GA.

 

Walker, along with fellow artists Eddie Velez “Da Preachin Puerto Rican” and Kelly Glow will serve as emcees for the artist showcase and music awards.

 

Honorees for 2008 include Kay Bizzy, DJ Rapzilla, DA Truth, Tha GIM, Rev.Rap, K-Drama, Mike Mike, DA Minista, Flame, Braille, Sean Blu and116 Clique.

 

Additionally, Stephen Wiley and Vic Padilla will receive the Ambassador Award.

 

The 2008 honorees will join past Holy Hip-Hop Music award recipients Cross Movement, T-Bone, BB-Jay, G.R.I.T.S., Bishop Eddie Long, Christopher “Play” Martin,Tunnel Rats, L.A. Symphony and KJ52.

 

The Holy Hip-Hop Artist Showcase and Music Awards is one of a series of events taking place during Holy Hip-Hop week Tickets for the event are scheduled to go on sale Sept. 15 at all ticketmaster outlets.

Walker’s involvement in the artist showcase and music awards comes on the heels of his participation in the NAACP’s mock funeral for the “N” word.

 

Walker was on hand Monday (July 9) to lead the effort, which was as part of the NAACP’s “STOP” campaign to end negative images of blacks in popular media as well as rap music.
