Rapper 50 Cent may have plenty of enemies in Hip-Hop, but the chart topping rapper is also taking aim at outgoing embattled president, George W. Bush Jr.
During a 2005 interview with GQ Magazine in which 50 Cent and Kanye West won “Men of the Year” honors, 50 Cent expressed a desire to meet President Bush, who’s approval ratings recently sank to around 29%, mostly due to a failed strategy in the administration’s war against Iraq.
In a new interview with New York Magazine, 50 Cent has changed his views on the Republican leader and distanced himself from the current Commander-in-Chief.
“George Bush has a talent: He has less compassion than the average human,” 50 Cent said. “By all means, I dont aspire to be like George Bush.”
The remarks are a sharp contrast to comments 50 Cent made about President Bush in the 2005 interview with GQ, when he claimed that he would have voted for President Bush, had it not been for his prior felony conviction, which prevents him from taking part in any elections.
“I wanna meet George Bush, just shake his hand and tell him how much of me I see in him,” 50 told GQ.
50 Cent’s new opinion of President George W. Bush is shared by many Americans, according to poll data released last week by Gallup and the USA Today.
President Bush’s approval ratings sank to a record low of 29%, as the cost of the war in Iraq tops over $10 billion dollars per-month, while the total cost of the war with Iraq and Afghanistan has cost over $600 billion, a little less than the Vietnam war.
The President’s approval rating has also not risen above 40% in a national survey since December 2006.
U.S. casualties are also mounting in Iraq, with over 3,650 dead and 25,000 wounded in fighting that has increased in intensity in May and June.
50 Cent’s new album Curtis is due in stores on September 11.
