Music icon Quincy Jones, actor/rapper Nick Cannon and noted producer Quincy “QD3” Jones III have teamed up with Nickelodeon to unleash the newest youth singing group in the network’s first original broadband series, Nick Cannon’s Star Camp.

 

The show, which premiered today (July 22) on Nickelodeon’s broadband video player TurboNick, follows the Giggle Club, an eight-member group,as they learn the fundamental tools needed to make it in the music industry.

 

The collective, whose ages range from 13 to 19, includes Cashae Davis (Young Daisy), Antonio Anderson (M-One), Tehabreana Mc Nair (Bre-Roca),Malik Mc Nair (Mac Flossy), Jessica Salinaz (Jessi J), William May (Big Will), Amanda Moseley (Mandy Rain) and Jesse Brown (Casper).

“I am committed to projects that have a positive influence on today’s youth,” Quincy Jones said. “Nick Cannon’s Star Camp is a perfect fit anda beautiful way to help create the next generation’s successful writers, actors, musicians and producers.”

 

During the show’s five-episode run, members are put through a “megastar boot camp” with state of the art equipment and resources to hone in ontheir performance skills, while receiving guidance from veteran producer/director Debbie Allen and choreographer Fatima Robinson.

 

For Cannon, the Nickelodeon alliance offers a  chance to develop potential movers and shakers in the music business.

 

“There is so much untapped talent out there, particularly among young kids today. We wanted to find this talent and give kids the training necessary to mold them into the budding stars that they can be,”stated Cannon. “I can’t think of a better network to be working with than Nickelodeon and a better way to reach today’s multi-platform kid audience than by airing this series on TurboNick.”

The finale of the 15-minute show will air at 6 p.m. ET/PTon Nickelodeon in the station’s TEENick block.
