Canadian MC Belly is among the celebrities set to attend two events being staged by Russell Simmons’ Hip-Hop Summit Action Network on August 10 and August 18 in Philadelphia and Toronto, Ontario.

 

HSAN will hold their second Hip-Hop Summit Town Hall Meeting on August 8 at the University of Philadelphia.

 

The meeting will focus on voter empowerment and initiatives to end the soaring murder rate in Philadelphia.

 

The panel includes celebrity speakers like music legend Kenny Gamble, Doug E. Fresh, and Jaguar Wright will discuss various issues centering on the Hip-Hop culture and the importance and right to vote.

 

“I was pleased last year to participate in the Town Hall Meeting and I will be there again this year to show my support,” said Kenny Gamble. “The youth of Philadelphia have a tremendous potential and it is our responsibility to help our youth stay on the right path.”

 

The Ontario Hip-Hop Summit will bring its “Get Your Money Right” tour to the city on August 18, to focus on financial empowerment, geared towards Canadian youth.

 

The summit is a grassroots effort to help get young people realize the importance of personal financial stability.

 

In addition to Belly, other celebrity guest speakers scheduled to attend the Canada summit include actress Gabrielle Union, singer LeToya Luckett, Keisha Chante, radio personality Monie Love, Hip-Hop host Free, Dr. Benjamin Chavis and more.

 

The summit, now in its third year, has partnered with Chrysler and HSAN in order to bring financial awareness to the forefront.

 

“Hip-Hop is about acquiring power. It is about improvement of the quality of life in communities,” explains Dr. Chavis President/CEO of HSAN. “Fundamental to all empowerment efforts is building a strong financial foundation.”

 

The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network Town Hall Meeting takes place in Philadelphia, PA on August 10th with the summit following in Toronto, Ontario on August 18th.
