Brooklyn rapper Foxy Brown’s bid for freedom was denied by a Manhattan Supreme Court justice yesterday (August 27).
Brown, born Inga Marchand, filed a lawsuit against the Correction Department, claiming that she is suffering on Rikers Island, since being incarcerated last Wednesday (August 21) for alleged parole violations.
Brown, who recently revealed that she is three months pregnant and engaged to be married, is not due for a hearing until September 7.
Manhattan Criminal Supreme Court Justice Laura Ward denied Brown’s petition to be released from Rikers Island.
Brown was arrested on August 14, after she allegedly assaulted her 25-year-old neighbor, by striking her in the face with a Blackberry during an altercation in her Prospect Heights neighborhood.
The following day (August 15), Brown was arrested for allegedly giving officers a fictitious name during a traffic stop, driving with a suspended license and driving with a suspended registration.
Representative for Brown said they will appeal the judges ruling.
