Rapper Young Jeezy is well known for his rhymes, but the rapper says his entry into the world of fashion has been just as successful, so much that he may hang up the microphone for the fashion world.
Young Jeezy, born Jay Jenkins is planning to celebrate the official launch of his Eight732 clothing line this week.
“I’m doing a whole week in Atlanta and Miami. That’s like the birth of my line, Eight732. The birth is going to be on my birthday [September 28], so it’s going to be crazy,” Young Jeezy told AllHipHop.com. “We having a series of events and parties from front to back from Monday to Sunday. I got something Monday [September 24] in Miami. Me and Trick [Daddy] are having a strip off at Club Diamonds, Atlanta versus Miami, you know how that go. We’re gonna throw a lot of money there. We gonna leave it though, we not going to pick it up.”
Eight732 stands for USDA, the name of Young Jeezy’s Hip-Hop group.
The name also correlates to the “USDA” letters found by dialing “8732″ on a phone’s key pad.
In addition to USDA group members Slick Pulla and Blood Raw, Young Jeezy will get support from Atlanta star T.I. and New Orleans’ Lil’ Wayne, who celebrate their birthdays this week as well.
T.I. was born on September 25, while Lil’ Wayne entered the world on September 27.
All three rappers will celebrate their birthdays with a 1940′s themed party at a private location.
The festivities climax with “Young Jeezy’s Four Seasons Hangar Party,” which takes place on Sunday September 30 at an airport hangar and is being taped for BET.
Confirmed guests include Def Jam Chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid and rapper/mogul Jay-Z, who’s Rocawear company has joint venture deals with Jeezy’s Eight732, as well as Eminem’s Shady Clothing brand.
Young Jeezy recently launched 8732clothing.com and there are talks of opening a boutique store, which will sell the rapper’s clothing line.
The success even has the rapper considering a full fledged exit from the business of rap.
“When I’m out and about I see people really wearing it, really buying it, really supporting it man, I can’t do nothing but thank them for that,” Young Jeezy told AllHipHop.com. “Other than that man we just grind. I might be back in on another album, I might not be [laughing].”
In related news, USDA recently finished shooting the video for “Throw This Money,” taken from their album Young Jeezy Presents USDA: Cold Summer.
