Rap group The Black Eyed Peas were forced to halt a performance in El Salvador, after group member Fergie became ill. Fergie told over 10,000 fans shortly into the group’s performance that she was sick from seafood poisoning and could not continue. The concert was organized by Two Show and was a date on the group’s Monkey Business tour of Central America and Mexico. While Two Show didn’t offer an explanation for the cancellation, fans speculated that Fergie was drunk. Two Show said the group’s performance would be rescheduled in 90 days and offered a full refund to fans who were disappointed. “I have never canceled a show in my life,” Fergie told fans. “I was basically sick on my deathbed with food poisoning. And I said I can’t do the show, I can’t do it. I am not one of those b###### who cancels her show from exhaustion.” She then launched into a rendition of “Big Girls Don’t Cry” with the crowd. The show ended shortly afterwards.
Palestinian Hip-Hop group DAM will perform live on stage at the Jericho Stadium in the West Bank in the Palestinian territories with Canadian rock star Bryan Adams on October 18. The concert is one of two “People’s Summits” being staged by the One Million Voices movement, which seeks to establish a two-state solution to the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. The second concert will take place in HayYarkon Park in Tel Aviv, Israel and will feature local musicians, poets and celebrities. The events are free, but attendees are required to sign a petition pledging support for both governments to pursue the two-state solution.
Priority Records is reissuing seminal rewordings by Compton Hip-Hop pioneer Eric “Eazy-E” Wright and rap group N.W.A. Featuring…Eazy-E is a new 16-track collection of Eazy’s best collaborations and solo recordings. The album also includes four rare tracks available exclusively on the CD. Guests on the CD include Mack-10, Ice-T, Bone Thugs-Harmony and others. Priority will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the seminal album Straight Outta Compton by re-releasing the album on CD, digital and vinyl. The commemorative release features five extra tracks, including a live version of “Compton’s N The House.” Also featured on the disc are covers of various N.W.A. tracks by Snoop Dogg, C-Murder, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Mack 10, and WC and a new package essay by music writer and author Soren Baker. Both albums are due in stores December 4.
