A Tribe Called Quest frontman Q-Tip will headline the 2007 CMJ Music Marathon and appear at The Apple store in New York next week, to promote his highly anticipated album, The Renaissance.
The rapper will open the annual festival with a performance at The Blender Theatre at Gramercy on October 16th.
Other rappers confirmed during one of the world’s largest and longest running music marathon include Del tha Funky Homosapien, Devin the Dude, Little Brother, Brother Ali, A-Trak and others.
Over 1,000 artists from around the world in multiple genres will perform in over 50 venues throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn from October 16th-20th.
Q-Tip’s The Renaissance is his first release in eight years and features the veteran MC rhyming over a mix of samples and a live band.
The second song from the album is titled “Fever” and will premiere on Jimmy Kimmel Live this Friday (October 12).
On October 18, Q-Tip will perform at The Apple Store in SOHO at 2:00 PM.
The first 50 fans will receive autographed iTune card copies of Q-Tip’s single “Work It Out.”
The Renaissance is due in stores in early 2008 on Universal/Motown.
