Atlanta-based rap group Dem Franchize Boyz will take part in the Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes Foundation (LLF) celebrity Gift-Wrap event.The second annual event, which is sponsored by Macy’s and U.N.EYE Studios, will kick off Nov. 30 at The Mall at Stone Crest in Lithonia, Ga. and run through Dec. 24. Foundation members as well as celebrities, businesses and volunteers will serve as “exclusive” gift wrappers.Other celebrities slated to appear include former TLC member T-Boz, Ronnie Devoe of New Edition, Shamari of Blaque, fashion designer and Project Runway finalist Mychael Knight, former NFL players Chuck Wiley and Steve Atwater and renowned artist Stuart McClean.Holiday gift wrappers will be on duty from noon to 8 p.m. Nov 30 through Dec. 9. Extended hours will be given from Dec. 13 through 23 and gift wrappers will be on-hand from open to close on Dec. 24.The celebrity gift wrap event is one of a string of events organized by the LLF, an organization inspired by inspired by Lopes’ dream of building a children’s home on land she purchased in Honduras.In addition to gift wrapping, the LLF will donate food and toys during the holiday season and work with teens from local Georgia low-income communities. The teens are put through a five-step program that is designed to give youth a competitive advantage while increasing their self worth by promoting and teaching cultural arts and awareness, healthy lifestyles, financial literacy, career development and civic and social responsibility.A two-day event hosted by Knight will be held in partnership with the celebrity gift wrap on Nov. 28 and 29. The first event, “Twas the Night before Christmas” – Trim and Taste, will feature a cocktail party attended by special invited guests. The second gathering, “It’sbeginning to look a lot like Christmas” will offer featured cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, tree viewing and special live music and performances for participants and guests.Upcoming events include a fashion show featuring designs by Knight, a celebrity concert and a private party at the Atrium Live Theatre that will be held in DecemberGift wrapping costs will range from $3 – $8, depending on the size of the customer’s gift. Proceeds from the event will go toward providing food and toys to low income families during the holiday season as well as the Hogar de Amor children’s home and Lisa Lopes Rural school/orphanage in Honduras and on-going teen programs in Dekalb County, Ga.
