Yonkers, New York rapper J. Hood is lashing out against The Loxs D-Block record label, claiming the CEOs refuse to release him from his recording contract.
J. Hood, born Joshua Hood, is signed to D-Block, whose CEOs include rappers Jadakiss, Styles P. and Sheek Louch.
He was a member of D-Block for six-years until this past August, when he announced that he was seeking to be released from the contract because of a stagnated career.
“As all the majority of the fans out there know, I asked to be released from D-Block approximately 3 months ago and till this day I’ve yet to be released from the label,” J. Hood revealed. “The CEOs in charge of the corporation are refusing to sign the papers necessary for me to go free as a artist, and on top of that they even threaten to ask for money for the release.”
The rapper is preparing to release a new compilation titled The Hood Is Back on his own imprint, ODG (On Da Grind) Entertainment.
He also has a catalog of unreleased material that he hopes will be released by the end of the year.
According to J. Hood, he was quite surprised by the CEOs’ reaction to releasing him from the label and noted their business battle with Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Combs, who signed The Lox in 1996, owned the rights to the groups publishing, resulting in their refusal to record new material for their new label, Interscope.
Combs finally gave the group more control over their publishing in 2005.
“They went threw a similar situation earlier in their careers,” J. Hood stated. “Lets hope that’s not what they have become….the biggest hypocrites. I have prepared numerous projects that are scheduled to be released before the end of the year just to show the fans I wasn’t the problem in this ordeal. Thanks for the support from the fans.”
D-Block Records was founded in 2001.
Artists on the roster include producer Vinny Idol , T. Waters, Team Arliss, 354 Entertainment, Reggaeton groups Chary Ary and PLF and others.
