Hip-Hop star Foxy Brown made a mandatory court appearance yesterday (December 17) in Brooklyn, New York.
Brown is serving a one year prison sentence at the Rose M. Singer Center For Women At Rikers Island, for violating the terms of her 2004 probation.
She violated her probation after she assaulted her Brooklyn neighbor with a Blackberry device in July during a feud with another woman.
Despite a number of high profile incidents with guards, an altercation with another inmate and an 40-day stint in solitary confinement, Browns attorney said the rapper was humbled by her stay in prison.
“[Foxy said]: sometimes God has to humble you in order for you to realize who you actually are,” Senator Sampson told reporters following the hearing. “When you get away from the glitz and glamour, you can find inner peace within yourself.”
Sampsons assessment of Browns demeanor is strikingly different from those of close family friends, who frequently visit Brown on Rikers Island.
According to family friend Geoffrey Davis, Brown only trusts her mother and her manager.
Last week, he told The New York Post that Brown has not changed at all.
“If they release her today, she’ll be back in a week..,” Geoffrey Davis, a family friend, told The New York Post last week. “I love her, and I have her best interests at heart, but I think she needs clinical help with anger management.
Foxy Browns new album Brooklyns Don Diva is slated to hit stores on February 5.
