Texas pioneer Pimp C’s cause of death remains undetermined, nearly two months after he was found dead in a Los Angeles hotel room, the LA County Coroner’s office told AllHipHop.com.
“We are not releasing any preliminary information at this time,” operations chief Craig Harvey told AllHipHop.com. “We’re still conducting a series of tests. Once the test results are complete, then we will be in a position where we’ll be releasing a final cause of death.”
Harvey said that he expects test results to be available in the next 10-15 days.
Pimp C’s body was discovered by the security staff of the Mondrian Hotel on December 4, one day after the 33-year-old rapper’s family and friends say he was scheduled to check out of the property.
Officials at the scene stated that since he was found alone and no drugs or drug paraphernalia was present in the room, Pimp C, born Chad Butler, appeared to have died of natural causes.
Nine days later, funeral services were held in the artist’s hometown of Port Arthur Texas, with several other rappers in attendance, including Mike Jones, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug and Bun B, who founded UGK with Pimp C in the early 1990s.
In late December, the LA Coroner’s office ruled out the possibility of foul play as a cause of death.
