Sunday Selection: TGT “Sex”

Tyrese, Ginuwine, and Tank are very emphatic with the notion of releasing an album under the moniker TGT. As a follow-up to their first collaboration “Please Don’t Go – The Remix,” three of R&B’s finest have put together a song called “SEX.” With a title as such, it’s fair to assume the song is rated “R” and possesses an adult theme. Just take a look at the chorus:Last night we made loveAnd when we finished we cuddled upI know you like that kinda of stuffBut tonight I ain’t having it so get readySEXNo a lot of kissing not a lot of huggin’SEXCause I’m on a mission all about cuttingSEXThe only thing that I want from you tonight is SEX Considering that Tyrese, Ginuwine, and Tank have had their own successful hits over the years, it makes me wonder – who’s doing the writing for these gentlemen? This song is OK, but I think the group has the ability to produce something much better. In my opinion “SEX” mirrors more of an album cut than a first single. TGT can capture the female R&B audience on the level that Gerald Levert, Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill did as LSG in the ’90s with their first smash hit “My Body,” but if they don’t chose the right spark their flame will slowly die out before it has time to push out any heat.
