Students of the music business are being taught by producer and author Jermaine Dupri in three separate speaking engagements between now and April 1.
The first of three events, which was organized by the New York Daily News, took last night (March 20) in New York City.
The rapper/mogul kicked off the mini-speaking tour at the New Yorker Hotel, as part of the Daily News‘ “Night with the News” lecture series.
The Island Records Urban Music President was joined by music industry guru Andre Harrell, as the two addressed the audience in a session entitled “How to Get a Record Deal.”
On Tuesday (Mar 25), Dupri will head back to school, addressing students in NYU’s Recorded Music program.
A week later, on April 1, he will close out the series with a speaking engagement at University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious Wharton School, the world’s first collegiate business school.
This is not Dupri;s first attempt at sharing the knowledge he’s gathered during his years in the game.
In 2007 he released a autobiography entitled Young, Rich and Dangerous: The Making of a Music Mogul.
The book was a first look at Dupri’s personal journey as he learned the music business, attaining and maintaining success even through all the changes of the last few years.
