Fox Searchlight has announced that newcomer Edwin Freeman will play the role of famed Brooklyn DJ, Mister Cee in the upcoming biopic Notorious, which is based on the life of Christopher Notorious B.I.G. Wallace.
Freeman, a Brooklyn, New York native, has been seen in 2000s direct-to-DVD Da Mission. He has also been seen in Sony Pictures Across the Universe and Drug Related, an independent film Freeman starred in and produced.
Freeman joins a cast that includes Brooklyn-based rapper Jamal Gravy Woolard as B.I.G., Angela Bassett as Voletta Wallace, Derek Luke as Sean Diddy Combs and Anthony Mackie as Tupac Shakur.
Notorious is slated for a 2009 release.
