Metal Gear is on

our minds, we can’t lie. In playing through the series this week, David

Hayter’s voice still doesn’t tire us.

Between bouts there was a lot of news, including Nintendo

dominating the charts, Sony getting bold with a new controller redesign, and Unreal Tournament 3 finally getting a

release date.

There is no surprised that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is in our played section,

but we also take a look at Battlefield

Bad Company, a game which is sure to give the good folks online something

new to do between bouts of Call of Duty 4:

Modern Combat

and Halo 3.

Big News

Nintendo is King of

the Hill; Suing Nyko

The Nintendo Wii and

the Nintendo DS have found themselves

at the top of the hill yet again as the highest sold two systems in the month of

May. With a recorded 675,089 and 452,608 sold, respectively, they currently

have a 63% and 71% hold, also respectively, in their markets.

The software has sold quite well, as Mario Kart Wii & Wii Fit

held the second and third spots on the charts in May.

Nintendo seems to be working on a USB solution for their Nintendo Wii. This would provide plenty

of expansion to the system, giving it an ability for a hard drives and flash

drives, which would expand the paltry 512 MB internal memory.

It’s not all good however, as third party peripheral maker

Nyko is being sued by Nintendo for creating a wireless Nunchuk solution.

Nintendo states that Nyko’s Kama Nunchuk “wholly appropriates the novel shape, design,

overall appearance and even the color and materials used in the Nintendo

Nunchuk controller.” Nyko’s wireless solution costs $33.99, a premium on

Nintendo’s first-party wired Nunchuk,

retailing for $19.99.

Sony Ups PSP Prices;

New DualShock 3 Controller

A rumor has developed that the motion based controller may

not be a rumor, but fact. Apparently Sony is working on using a break apart DualShock 3 controller to be used as the

device. Remember how much the SIXAXIS

was utilized?

In an even darker note, Eight

Days has been canceled. The game looked like it had some promise. The Getaway 3 joins it in the

cancellation bin, but does anyone care?

The company’s statement on the decision reads: “It has been agreed that

production of both Eight Days and The Getaway will cease immediately due to the redistribution of resources and budget.”

The PSP game

prices have been increased in the online store – with some prices jumping up as

much as $11.

Gangs of London

$11.99 up to $22.99 (+$11)

Kingdom of Paradise

Hot Shots Golf: Open

WipeOut Pure

Meanwhile, the Playstation 3 (208,700) has outsold the Xbox

Xbox Price Drop

Rumors! Unreal Tournament Release Date Set

There are rumors floating around that there is a 60 GB HD

going to replace the 20 GB HD currently featured in the XBOX 360 Premium/Pro

units. Don’t see the need for them, as there are rumors that the 120 GB HD is

going to get a price drop.

Fans of Unreal

Tournament 3 can finally breathe a sigh of relief, as the title has finally

gotten a release date of July 7 2008. Gamers can look forward to some new

additions including a split screen mode, five new multiplayer maps and two new

characters in the story line. A Gears of

War 2 preview narrated by Cliffy B is also included.

EA Sports On The Edge

The new head of EA, former Xbox exec Peter Moore, has stated

that all EA Sports titles will be innovators.

“We’re never satisfied,” he said last week on his

personal blog. “There’s always more we can do. It’s what we love about our

business. I hate to sound like a cheerleader, but the facts are the facts. And

I don’t expect them to change any time soon. We’re hitting this season in terms

of quality and innovation stronger than we ever have at EA Sports. If I’m

wrong, you’ll see me sporting a new tattoo – maybe a competitor’s logo?”

People may remember the Grand

Theft Auto IV stunt he pulled many moons ago, so he probably would do it.

 But who believes that NBA

Live 09 will be the best game out? Even if Moore promised that the next NBA Live game would sport “the most

ground-breaking feature from our lineup this year.”

New Trailers! – Sonic Chronicles Dark Brotherhood & Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Bioware’s Sonic

Chronicles Dark Brotherhood for the DS has been called one of the weirdest

mashups in history. Sonic the Hedgehog starring in an RPG? Speed in a normally

slow genre…shouldn’t work. It’s from critically acclaimed Bioware, so it gets

the benefit of the doubt.

Brotherhood:

This trailer sports the all sorts of news from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed creators explaining the storyline. Again,

Mega Man 9 Gets Overseas Release Date

Apparently Mega Man 9,

by Capcom, has been given a G rating, and is good to go for a local release in Australia.

This means it should be at E3 next

month. We will stay on top of this one, Mega

Man series is classic, and should provide some interesting next-gen

concepts to an old school mule.

Played

Metal Gear Solid 4: Gun’s of the Patriot

Its no secret we have been giving this game a lot of
