Rapper Jim Jones now sits on the Board of Directors of the Entertainers 4 Education Alliance, a New York-based non-profit organization which uses entertainment to promote education and positive decision-making.

The Dipset Capo became a board member this week, along with MTV personality Sway Calloway and former New York Knicks shooting guard John Starks, all hoping to become more involved with E4EA’s community initiatives.

Jones, Starks and Sway were all previously involved with the organization’s newly created “I Will Graduate Campaign.”

Launched earlier this year, the Campaign uses public service announcements, workshops, events and activities to raise community awareness about the staggering drop out rates that continue to exist in New York City schools and across the country.

The I Will Graduate Campaign not only calls students to task, but it also calls on the parents and the surrounding community to rally around students who are dedicated to their educational achievement.

“Its only right that I give back to the community and E4EA is the perfect organization,” Jones said of his involvement. “[It] offers such a great service where I can use my celebrity status to let our you know to make smart choices and education is very important. Graduating from high school that’s balling!”

“Entertainers 4 Education Alliance is extremely fortunate to have John, Jim and Sway as our newest Board Members,” added the organization’s co-founder Tonya Lewis. “Each of these individuals brings a unique dynamic and resource that E4EA needs to fully make the impact that is needed to reach our youth.”

As part of its mission, Entertainers 4 Education Alliance depends heavily on the participation of celebrities, using their influence to captivate the youth and create an environment of support through the arts.

Each year, E4EA organizes the Stay In School Concert & Expo, a full day of activities and performances during which entertainers and kids are able to interact directly, mixing entertainment with the message of education, career advancement and social commitment.

This year’s Stay In School Concert & Expo will be held on October 28 at the Manhattan Center in New York city.
