DJ J. Period has become the first Hip-Hop producer commissioned to create the entire video game soundtrack for gaming giant, Activision Publishing Inc.
J. Period produced the entire sample-free soundtrack for Tony Hawks Motion, the latest release in skateboarding legend Tony Hawks video game franchise.
The 10-song soundtrack to Tony Hawks Motion features a variety of genres, including Hip-Hop, rock, drum-n-bass and other styles of music.
“J. Period has meticulously crafted an incredible collection of exclusive and original tracks that capture the essence of the Tony Hawk experience, said Tim Riley, Vice President, Music Affairs at Activision, Inc. This franchise has a long-standing tradition of offering high-energy soundtracks, but J. has taken it to a new level and delivers an adrenaline-pumping masterpiece for Tony Hawks Motion.”
J. Period, who is working on his first full length debut album, was thrilled to work with Hawk, who is perhaps the best known skateboarder in the world.
To craft the soundtrack, J. Period collaborated with rock guitarist Yohimbe Sampson, who worked with the DJ on his Searching for Rick Rubin Mixtape.
Also featured on the Tony Hawk Motion soundtrack is Jesse Blum, who plays keys, bass and horns on half of the tracks.
I was truly honored to be given the responsibility of crafting the entire soundtrack for game playexclusive tracks, no samples, all original material, J Period added. This is no underground mixtape. All the music was composed and recorded exclusively for Activision for this project. I dont know any other mixtape DJ who is taking it to that level.”
Tony Hawks Motion hits stores tomorrow (November 18) for Nintendo DS.
