An anticipated Nas concert turned ugly last night in Torbay, Newfoundland when the legendary lyricist failed to show.

The show was scheduled for a St. John’s venue, and featured Canadian artist Kardinal Offishall in an opening set.

As the night wore on, fans became enraged upon the realization that Nas would not be performing.

“The crowd [was] getting out of control,” stated CBC News reporter Zach Goudie. “By 10:30, Nas still hadn’t taken the stage, and it started to become obvious he wasn’t coming. There was a lot of beer can throwing … and very quickly the police were called in by security.”

Police later confirmed that several fans were arrested at the scene.

Although the reason for Nas’ absence has not been confirmed, rumors allege the Queensbridge star did show up in town, but could not come to re-negotiation terms with the concert’s promoter, who allegedly lost the show money to an unscrupulous middle man.

Nas next album, the Damian Marley duet LP Distant Relatives, is scheduled to be released on June 23.

At press time, it is unknown if Nas will reschedule the St. John’s event.
