Hip-Hop superstar Snoop Dogg will don the role of Creative Chairman of EMI Music’s legendary record label, Priority Records.

As Creative Chairman, Snoop will re-establishing Priority Records as force in today’s music industry, in addition to establishing a digital strategy for Priority.

Ted Chung, Snoop’s long-time creative associate and manager at Stampede Management will become Brand Strategist for Priority, to help execute Snoop’s business vision for the label.

“Starting fresh with EMI is a great feeling,” Snoop Dogg told AllHipHop.com in a statement released today (September 8). “It’s a new partnership, a new Priority Records, and a new Snoop Dogg: the Creative Chairman…the Boss Dogg…the Dogg Father. The business model we’ve developed will bring the musical heritage of groups like N.W.A. to the forefront.”

The first release with Snoop acting as head of the label will be his own highly anticipated 10th album, Malice in Wonderland.

The album features production by Dr. Dre, Pharrell Williams, Tricky Stewart, The Dream, Danja and Nottz. Guests include Lil Jon, Brandy, The Dream, R. Kelly, Jazmine Sullivan and Soulja Boy.

According to Nick Gatfield, President of New Music for EMI Music in North America, UK & Ireland, Snoop’s global appeal would help reinvigorate Priority.

The label was originally founded by Bryan Turner, Steve Drath and Mark Cerami in 1985.

Priority Records released a number of ground breaking records from artists and indies like Eazy-E, N.W.A, Jay-Z, Ice Cube, Ruthless Records, No Limit Records, Death Row Records and numerous others.

“The world knows and loves Snoop as a unique and undeniably influential artist. His innate understanding of the urban music scene and his ability to strike a chord with fans, time and again are why he has built a successful career,” Gatfield said. “EMI’s mission is to truly understand and serve music fans around the world, and we recognize that Snoop is a creative talent who `gets’ his fan base and recognizes great music and entertainment trends. We join with millions of fans around the world in anticipation of a new Snoop album and the other exciting projects that Snoop will drive at Priority.”

Snoop Dogg’s 10th studio album Malice In Wonderland is due in stores in December.
