The Beat Battle Returns fresh and new as the summer comes to a close. Just as the winter enters, the battle heats things up with a fresh set of music videos to duke it out for world supremacy.

This week we have very complicated, but diverse group duking it out.

Ladies First.

Nicki Minaj has somehow managed to get traction in a male dominated genre like Hip-Hop. It can’t all be her looks, as the New York native signed on with one of the major forces in music today. Lil Wayne and Young Money won’t be there in the imaginary ring in this battle though. So, is her “Itty Bitty Piggy” sufficient in this era?

See for yourself.

FAT JOE = “HEY JOE”

Fat Joe returns to the game with a gat! Rock purists will be moved by this song, as long as they don’t hate on the Jimi Hendrix sample. There are a lot of street videos going on out there, but this one looks more like a scene from “Bronx Tale.” It is well-produced, dramatic and gritty – like a movie. The only major flaw is that the song is quite short. Nevertheless, it seems like Fat Joe is ready to strike gold again in the music industry.

50 CENT – “FLIGHT 187”

50 Cent is a character. Just when you think there is nothing in the tank, he bursts out with something like “Flight 187.” The rapper has released several mixtapes and videos promoting everything from the oft-delayed Before I Self Destruct to books to community events. This video is an exercise in creativity from the rapper and his tech team. The ending even disturbed many people that feel he took it over the top. He even takes time to shoot a lyrical jab at millionaire counterpart Jay-Z. Click here to see for yourself.

BONUS BATTLER- JASIRI-X

The ages of Public Enemy and other assertive, political voices are all but gone from rap’s landscape. There are a couple of modern day pioneers that forge ahead. One of them is Jasiri X of Pittsburgh. Although he hasn’t been able to interrupt programming on BET or MTV, the emcee has been fortunate to gain major attention by way of grassroots marketing and the internet. His latest video is called “The Crucifixion of Van Jones.” It addresses Barack Obama’s Green Czar, who was recently forced to step down, under allegations that he was once a communist. He also reportedly claimed that G.W. Bush might have had some involvement in the Sept. 11 terror attacks. Sounds like a Jadakiss line. Van Jones claims the Right has railroaded his aspirations for Mother Earth. He’s got a fan in Jasiri X. Check this video.
