This year’s City to the Sand 100 Mile Run will hold a deeper meaning for rap pioneer DMC. The Run DMC member will be among 100 cyclists riding in the event as he participates on behalf of his nonprofit Felix Organization/Adoptees For Children. The organization, co-founded by DMC and Hollywood casting director Sheila Jaffe, is dedicated towards providing what it describes as “enriching opportunities and experiences to children growing up without parents.” For the charitable ride, DMC will peddle 100 miles on a bike from New York City to The Hamptons. The City To the Sand 100 Mile Ride will kick off at 7:30 AM EST on Saturday (Sept. 12), rain or shine, north at 1st Avenue. “It’s the kind of personal, community-based connectivity I’ve spent the past few years of my life trying to enlarge out there,” DMC expressed in a statement. “It’s going to be a blast!” Tax-deductible contributions can be made via check or money order and sent to: 100mileman/DMC 230 Park Avenue, NYC, NY 10169
