Legendary rap group Run-DMC are planning to bring the story of their journey from Hollis, Queens to becoming pioneers of rap to the Broadway stage.

Variety reports that the surviving group members Rev Run and DMC have been meeting with executive producer Paula Wagner (Mission Impossible, The Last Samurai) to sort out the details of the musical.

“I feel their story perfectly lends itself to the stage,” Wagner told Variety. “This project has been a passion of mine for some time and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with them.”

No further details about the project have been released at this time.

Earlier in the year it was announced that there are also plans to bring the Run-DMC story to the big screen.

Cheo Hodari Choker who penned Notorious, the bio-pic about slain rapper Notorious B.I.G., is reportedly working on a script for a film about the group.

Run-DMC’s legacy has also recently been honored in other ways, most notably having a street in Queens renamed after them, as well as being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
