Kiki got a chance to catch up with our good friend and Flud Watches CEO, Doug Cohen, to find out what goodies we can expect from their new spring/summer 2010 collection and more. Check it out: DrJays.com: How did you get your start in this industry? Doug: “Well, my personal background is in the music business. I had a record label, DJ’d for many years, which is why our first watch was the turntable watch – ‘The Tableturns’. I wanted to connect my former life with my current one. I got sick of that business, loved the lifestyle, and loved watches. Ironically, I’m always late though”.

DrJays.com: Describe a typical day in the life of the CEO of Flud Watches. Doug: “Work, sleep, eat, play with my dogs, work more, a little bit more work, eating again, probably more work and then maybe watch some Hulu, most likely Lost. I mean really, forget a position, when your at a small start up in any business in any industry, a typical day consists of doing everything because you really have to wear so many hats. “We have a tiny staff at Flud, so everyone really has a hand in everything. Its the only way you can stay afloat, and you gotta be willing and able to multi task and do any responsibility that pops up”.

DrJays.com: Tell us what we can expect from you upcoming spring/summer 2010 collection.

Doug: “Spring/summer is heat! Pun intended. I think when we work on watches, we try to organize a collection that is more about individual pieces then it is about connecting them. There’s no space to connect all the watches to a specific theme – you need each watch to be a unique piece. “We just try to figure out where the industry is going with colors, sizes, that kind of stuff, and then drop watches that will fit with that. We don’t do an ‘outdoorsy’ theme or anything like that. “One of our new styles is the ‘Winner Circle’, which is a digital/analog watch that’s crazy. Then we got ‘The Moment’, which is almost like a little brother to the “Big Ben” thats super clean, and ‘The Essex’, which is a really mature stainless steel watch at the normal great Flud price points”.

DrJays.com: With all of the increasing competition in the “streetwear” watch market, what do you think keeps Flud at the top of its game?

Doug: Competition? What’s that? DrJays.com: What is your personal favorite Flud watch (old or new)?

Doug: “I personally wear “The Exchange” the most, but they all have something about them that I love. That’s one thing about Flud, we really make so many different styles and looks that you really can make it your own, pick something that speaks to you and still have something fresh and unique”.
