Well this was pretty much expected.  Last week Eminem released his seventh studio album and this week he comes out on top.  Way on top.  If music sales were a race then Em would have already won the race, spoken to a sideline reporter, took a couple of publicity photos, drove home, showered, took a nap, woke up, ordered take out, and then took another nap just as second place was crossing the finish line.  This week the Detroit MC moves 753,870 copies of his latest album, Recovery.The closest artist, sales-wise, this week is MC  by the name of Drake.  The Young Money frontman moves another 156,451 copies of his debut album, Thank Me Later.  To date,Thank Me Later has sold 619,440 copies.The next representative of Hip Hop is THE Hip Hop band, The Roots.  Their ninth (my bad for last week…this is the groups 9th full length studio album) album, How I Got Over, enters the charts at number six.  The group’s latest effort sells 49,320 copies this week.The Black Eyed Peas continue to move units selling 16,444 copies of their latest The E.N.D.  The group takes the 22nd spot and has, so far, sold well over 2X platinum.Atlanta rapper B.O.B continues to sell but takes a little bit of a dip from 19 to 26.  His debut album, The Adventures of Boby Ray, moves 14,648 copies and so far has sold 244,358 copies.Plies’ Goon Afiliated drops from 18 to 42 moving only 9,600 copies.  So far the South Florida rapper has sold 85,517 units.Plies is followed by the duo, Nas and Damian Marley, whose collaboration album, Distant Relatives, claims the 44th spot and sells 9,301.  The rap/reggae hybrid album has sold 129,059 copies of their album to date.Finally, Ludacris rounds out the top fifty coming in at number 47.  His latest, Battle of the Sexes, sells 8,631 copies this week and to date has sold 437,101. Dropping This WeekWe only have one album dropping this week and it’s by Marco Polo.  The Canadian Hip Hop producer drops The Stupendous Adventures of Marco Polo this week.  The album features Rocye Da 5”9, Elzhi, Supastition. Ruste Jux, and Torae.  Marco Polo produces some serious heat so give it a listen.That’s it for ChartWatch this week.  We’ll see how Hip Hop does sales-wise next week.
