(AllHipHop News) After years of beef, Detroit rappers Eminem and Royce Da 5’9 have reunited and released a new track titled “Living Proof.” On the new 3:45 second track, Royce and Eminem trade verses over a loop of James Brown’s famous breakbeat “Funky Drummer.”The pair formed the group “Bad Meets Evil” in 1996 and recorded several tracks until the group broke up in 2000, after Royce had a falling out with D12.A five-year feud between Eminem and Royce Da 5’9 started around 2003, after Royce had a falling out with Bizarre of D12. A few years after the April 2006 shooting death of Proof, Eminem and Royce began a dialog to peacefully resolve their ongoing issues, which were even highlighted on the popular TV series Beef.In March of 2008, after several violent run-ins between their respective camps, Royce and D12 ended their differences. In June of 2010, hints at reunion surfaced, when pictures of Royce, Eminem and The Alchemist in Paris together hit the Internet. The song’s title is an obvious tribute to Proof, who was shot and killed by a bouncer in a club on 8 Mile Road in Detroit.”I think after we lost Proof we realized how stupid this beef sh*t is,” Eminem said during a June 2010 interview on The All Out Show on Sirius Satellite’s Shade 45. “It was a serious wake-up call, man, and realizing that life’s short. It feels good to be back in touch with the homie. When I rhyme with Royce, I always gotta step it up because Royce is f*cking ill. He’s one of the illest lyricists to me, out, period.” The latest track between Eminem and Royce Da 5’9 may be further evidence that a deal between Royce’s supergroup Slaughterhouse (Joe Budden, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz) is close to being complete, after months of rumors that the group will eventually sign to Shady Records. To listen to the track click here.
