ChartWatch for December 01, 2010

As predicted last week the top two artists are Kanye

West and Nicki Minaj.  The two have given

a pretty big sales boost for the slumping record industry.

Kanye West and his fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy enters

the charts this week at number one.  The

Chicago MC/Producer moves 496,000 copies almost making the half-a-million mark

in a week.

He is immediately followed by Nicki Minaj, whose

debut album, Pink Friday, takes the

number two spot.  Minaj sells 375,000

copies.  She also has the second-best

sales week for a female hip-hop artists, right behind Lauryn Hill.

Not bad for two albums that were heavily leaked

before their release.

Rihanna drops a few spots but remains in the top

ten.  Her latest album, Loud, lands at number 6 and sells

133,662 copies.  That brings the Def Jam

artist’s total sales to 339,680.

Fellow Def Jam singer Ne-Yo also enters the charts

this week, moving 117,800 copies of his fourth album, Libra Scale, and taking the number eight spot.

Kid Rock comes in at….wait does Kid Rock still

rap?  Did he ever rap?  I’m skipping him.

Eminem drops from 18 to 23, selling 49,858 copies of

his latest album, Recovery.  To date the Detroit MC has sold 3,055,678.

Lloyd Banks enters the charts two spots behind Em

with his third studio album H.F.N. 2 (The

Hunger for More).  Banks moves 45,188

copies and claims the 25th spot.

Lil Wayne takes a slight drop, falling from 28 to

30, with his EP I Am Not A Human Being.  The 38,509 copies moved by the EP this week

brings its total sales to 512,415.

Nelly takes a 27 spot plunge and lands at number 37

with his return-to-the-game album 5.0.  This week Nelly moves 28,528 copies bringing

his total sales to 90,982.

Kid Cudi also takes a dip, landing at the 38th

spot with his sophomore album Man on the

Moon 2: The Legend of Mr. Rager

Cudi moves 27,978 copies bringing his total sales to 229,083.

Finally, Jay-Z hits the charts.  That’s right Jay-Z.  His label released album, the Hits Collection, Vol. 1, enters the

charts at number 41, moving 26,044.

Twenty six thousand people didn’t already have these Jay-Z songs?  Ya’ll needed the hits collection?

Dropping

This Week

The Black Eye Peas drop this week.  Ya’ll know how I feel about them.  They’ll be on the charts next week so I’ll

talk about them then.  Moving on…..

Soulja Boy drops The

DeAndre Way this week.  The album

features Trey Songz, Lil B, 50 Cent, Bei Maejor, and Ester Dean.  This album should probably hit the charts

next week as well.

Slim Thug releases Tha Thug Show.  Slim usually puts out some solid music so

fans might want to take a listen to this one.

The album features Z-Ro, Rick Ross, Rimidi, Nipsey Hussle, Yo Gotti, Big

Chief, Lil Keke, Dallas Blocker, B.o.B, Devin the Dude, J-Dawg, Big K.R.I.T,
