(AllHipHop News) Former drug kingpin-turned community activist Freeway Ricky Ross is facing another jail sentence, for allegedly violating the terms of his probation.
Rick Ross, who was released from prison in September of 2009, was originally given a life sentence for attempting to buy 100 kilos of cocaine from a federal agent in 1996.
His sentence was reduced when one his sources turned out to be connected to the CIA and the Iran-Contral scandal.
Rick Ross served almost a total of 30 years in prison, for dominating the crack cocaine trade in south-central Los Angeles, where he oversaw a cocaine empire that raked in as much as $1,000,000 per day in the mid-1980s.
Since Freeway Rick’s release, he has launched FreewayEnterprises.com.
He has been on speaking tours around the country, held blood drives and mentored youths, while preaching a anti-drug and anti-gang message.
Freeway Rick Ross’ work has also earned him numerous accolades, from a number of universities and institutions.
But his work has also put his future in jeopardy, as he is being accused of associating with convicted felons.
In an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com Rick Ross revealed that he is facing a judge tomorrow (October 11th), where he could be sent back to prison for as long as six months.
Freeway Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com that he is being accused of associating with felons he served the majority of his prison time with, due to phone calls he made to inmates he knows inside of various federal prisons.
The phone calls put Freeway Rick in direct violation of the terms of his probation, which bars him from associating or cavorting with any other convicted felon.
To make matters worse, Freeway Rick believes his probation officer has it out for him, due to his popularity based off his infamous past.
“They know I’ve been talking to the kids and all that and that don’t mean nothing,” Freeway Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com. “They claim I was associated with felons because I took a picture with one guy did time with, and the other guy, I didn’t even know him. I guess they think I shouldn’t be able to do things I do, since I got famous from selling drugs.”
While it may seem odd that Freeway Rick decided to talk to inmates inside of prison, to him, the telephone calls were very innocent.
“These were people that I served the majority of my time with, people who helped me,” Rick Ross explained. “I’m talking about guys who taught me how to read and write, guys who helped me with my case and eventually my freedom.”
Since his freedom, Rick Ross is been engaged in various activities in Los Angeles, including mentoring youths and participating in a football camps for at risk children aged 8 to 18 years of age.
He has also opened a number of businesses, including his social network FreewayEnterprises.com and a diesel truck business “Ross Express,” which owns two diesel trucks and is bringing in as much as $4000 per week, according to Rick Ross.
Rick Ross has also been working with and MJZ Productions and Amare Stoudemire to produce his life story in a movie that will be directed by Nick Cassavetes (“Blow” “Alpha Dog” “The Notebook”).
According to Rick Ross, a number of high-profile actors have looked at the script for his life story, including Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, Don Cheadle and others.
Freeway Rick Ross believes that all of these things will help him tomorrow when he faces a familiar face, the same judge that gave him a life sentence, in 1996.
“We have a long history. It’s going to be like an old reunion,” Freeway Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com. “She knows me well and I believe she will be impressed that I haven’t committed any crimes. She knows I don’t lie to her and I think she respects me. The last time I saw her, she knocked four years off my sentence. I think she did that because of how far I came. She hasn’t seen me in five or six years, so when she see me now, I’ve grown even more.”
