The much-buzzed about rapper and newest Bad Boy Records artist, French Montana, recently visited the Angie Martinez show on HOT97 in NYC, and explained why he didn’t sign with G.O.O.D. Music. Check out what he said about meeting up with Kanye to discuss possibly signing to his label:
“I met up with him one time and then I met up with him again,” French said. “There were things that I was used to ’cause I was already moving. I’m like a money train.”
But that money train came to a halt when he couldn’t get Kanye on the phone.
“Kanye doesn’t have a phone. If you need to get in contact with Kanye, you have to email him,” said the 27-year-old. “You can’t tell me how to do that. I don’t know how to use an e-mail, so I guess me and you is never gonna talk, and I’ma put my career in your hands?”
But he doesn’t hold any hard feelings towards Yeezy. “He’s definitely talented, and I felt like if I went there, we would have definitely made history.”
French also said he is happy about his decision to sign to Bad Boy. Montana is currently prepping his Bad Boy debut, which will be co-executive produced by Diddy and Rick Ross. In addition to his single, “Shot Caller,” he can be heard on Rick Ross’ Rich Forever mixtape cut, “Stay Schemin’” featuring Drake.
