Men Still Held Captive Over Nas Show In Angola; Blame Artists For Ordeal

(AllHipHop News) A father and son team of promoters that were kidnapped in Angola, Africa over a failed Nas concert are still being held more than a month into the ordeal.

Patrick Allocco and his son Patrick were taken captive in Angola in early January, after Nas and R&B singer Jemiah Jah failed to board the airplane to make a New Year’s Eve concert in Luanda.

In an exclusive interview with the New York Post, the man explained the events that led up to their capture, as well as the conditions they are being held in, 44 days into the situation.

Twenty men armed with AK-47’s who were associated with local promoter Henrique Miguel’s company Casa Blanca Entertainment accosted the men, as they attempted to reach the U.S. embassy in the country, after they realized the show was not going to take place.

The men smashed Patrick’s head into an SUV, before taking them to a local motel, where they are being charged astronomical sums to eat and have lodging.

The Allocco’s were interrogated by police and their passports were taken.

Both men placed the blame squarely on Nas and Jemiah Jah, claiming that although Nas has returned his $300,000 advance, Jemiah Jah is refusing to relinquish her advance, even though she never made the performance.

“He put us in real harm, in real possible danger,” Allocco said. “This is the closest thing we came to someone up and running with the money.”

The men are being held until they come up with another $75,000 that Henrique Miguel is demanding.

The U.S. Embassy is refusing to intervene in the matter.

New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez, who has a personal relationship with the President of Angola, is threatening to bring the matter to the attention of  President Barack Obama, if the matter cannot be  resolved.

    • MrTroyMercy

wtf is you trying to say ?

  • Bmore SkorpioMa

Okay so it’s Nas’ fault that the promoters were kidnapped due to the fact that he and another artist missed a New Years Eve flight to Africa to do a show??!! Okay artists cancel, miss, show up hella late to shows all the time – for whatever reasons.  But to hold them personally responsible for rogue promotion co. “employees” snatching up a promoter over it makes Africa sound unsafe and unstable. I’ve NEVER heard of this happening in any other country.  Sure fans are disappointed and may have a hard time getting refunds and such – but kidnapping??!! Nah THAT’S EXTREMIST!! Even after Nas returned the money he was paid they’re STILL holding the duo captive??!! If I were a performer/artist I’d think twice, three times about doing any shows in Africa.  I’m just sayin…

  • illymac

The real question is why is the US embassy refusing to intervene..

    • Bumpy Johnson

US doesnt care about anything. heck they dont care about the people in its very own streets so why in angola….fucking end of the world man

    • Tony G.

becuz this is a hip hop story…..and these people have no political or financial power in the US …so why would they…I know they’re Americans…but thats the society we live in…not sure if Barack is even gonna touch this.

  • Nas didn’t do anything wrong. He returned the bread.I can’t believe they still got them

  • Montezuma1

That father and son are shady. This whole thing doen’t pass the smell test. Uncle Sam don’t play. The US government would waste no time obtaining the release of these 2 shylocks. They’re down with what appears to be a shake down. Don’t believe the hype people.

  • KingsCountyCrooklyn

Nas must of got a Tip from someone informing him he was going to be held hostage if he went over there. on some better him then me skit

  • Blacklife

This Story is bigger than a kidnapped case…The biggest part of it is that a lot of people are not reading before they leave a comment..I see the U.S. Gov. will have to reinforce no child left behind…THE STORY SAY’S NAS PAID BACK $300,000!!

    • rep87
