Snoop Dogg Invests in LAFL Women’s Football Team

SNOOP DOGG EXPANDS HIS SPORTS VENTURES INTO…WOMEN’S FOOTBALL?

(AllHipHop News) The start of its inaugural season is less than two months away and the newly-formed Lady Arena Football League (LAFL) already has a celebrity supporter in rapper Snoop Dogg.

WENN reports that the West Coast rap veteran has become a part owner of the Los Angeles Rideretts by buying shares in the team. Tryouts for the Rideretts were held last Saturday (March 10) in Carson, California.

The LAFL is an 8-on-8 full contact football league that incorporates female athletes who will play in lingerie-style uniforms. According to the leagues’ website, players will compete under the same bylaws and rules of the National Arena Football League.

In addition to the Rideretts, LAFL teams include the Lady Houston Panthers, New Orleans Lady Dollz, Kansas City Tease, and St. Louis Sting. More teams are “coming soon” from Oakland, Atlanta, and Las Vegas, the website states.

Snoop Dogg’s part owner status with the Rideretts marks his latest venture into the world of sports. The entertainer’s Snoop Youth Football League has become a nationwide success with its focus on providing inner-city kids with a chance to participate in youth football, while promoting the importance of academics and the value of teamwork, good sportsmanship, discipline, and self-respect. The youth league, founded by Snoop Dogg, holds its “Snooper Bowl” championship every year on the eve of the Super Bowl.

The inaugural season of the Lady Arena Football League is set to begin in May.
