Originally released in 1976, Sparkle became a cult classic, and the trailer for its remake has now been released. The updated version stars the late legend, Whitney Houston, and American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks.
Unlike its 1976 predecessor, which was set in 1950′s Harlem, the new film is set in Detroit, Michigan, in the 1960s Motown era. The film takes inspiration from real life group, The Supremes, which produced the iconic legend we know today as Diana Ross.
With music written by R. Kelly and appearances by Mike Epps, Derek Luke, Cee-Lo, and more, this film is sure to be a classic. Sparkle is scheduled for release this summer. Watch the trailer below:
