Exclusive: Kevin McCall Talks Debut, Chris Brown, and If “Deuces” Was Really Aimed at Rihanna

During his recent trip to New York City, AllHipHop.com caught up with Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Kevin McCall. McCall was first introduced on the scene in 2010, when he appeared on Chris Brown’s hit song, “Deuces”, a song McCall both wrote and produced.

Today, as a singer, rapper, producer, and writer, this quadruple threat is now working on his debut album, and recently released its first single, “Naked”, featuring Big Sean. AllHipHop.com sat down with McCall to find out about his solo project, his Chris Brown-directed visual for “Naked”, and to learn more about his upbringing in Watts, California. McCall even touches on whether or not the song “Deuces” was written with Rihanna in mind:

In our interview, McCall reveals, “There’s been a void in it [R&B], and the ladies are asking for it, so I’m gonna give them what they want.

“I’m going to be that guy. I’m that guy. I’ll say it.”

McCall’s debut single, “Naked”, featuring Big Sean is available now on iTunes.

A void in r&b? there’s a difference between a void and not being celebrated. Ask Eric Roberson, Raheem DeVaughn, Anthony David, Rashaan Patterson and Tank! Tank’ll make a bytch think she can STRIP! Neva took a lesson in my life!

    • there is a void in R&B. only a few R&B artists lately are mainstream. Beyonce, Usher, Chris Brown, Trey Songs…………. and only Treyon  that list doesn’t make Pop music.

Girl I hope  you are buying the albums of those people you listed, cuz no one else is in our community. You must be foolish to not think their isn’t a void.

At least in country music that community BUYS those albums, despite that type of music not being mainstream. blacks instead choose to illegally download and then we complain there isn’t enough real R&B.

Best of luck to Kevin. Deuces is still my jam.

Blacks are not the only people that illegally download, yo. White folks that listen to country download as well. It’s just that country has so MANY fans…Old and young fans that buy albums too…

Call in and request that newest Eric Roberson record!!! Get 20 people to do the same thing and they’ll listen to you. Call Rickey Smiley, he loves underground neo-soul. One day he was bumping the hell outta Foreign Exchange! Hello!
