The Beastie Boys’ Adam “MCA” Yauch Honored By New York Senate; Unofficial “MCA Day NYC” Taking Place Tomorrow

THE LATE MCA OF THE BEASTIE BOYS IS CELEBRATED BY THE NEW YORK SENATE

(AllHipHop News) According to Billboard, the New York State Senate “passed a resolution Tuesday (May 15) ‘mourning the death of famed rapper and activist Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch.” The resolution stated that the Beastie Boys “‘exemplified New York’ and helped rejuvenate the city during their influential early years.”

The statement from the  New York Senate, which came two week after the world mourned the untimely death of The Beastie Boys member, praised Yauch for his “extracurricular activities, which included his pro-Tibet Milarepa Fund and the film distribution company Oscilloscope Laboratories.”

The resolution also described MCA as a “man of colossal talent and charisma.”

In addition to the news from the New York Senate, their will be an unofficial “MCA Day NYC” taking place tomorrow (May 19) at 11 a.m. in New York City’s Union Square Park. It will be a day of “humble tribute and colorful celebration of the life and music of Adam Yauch.”

Adam “MCA” Yauch died at age 47 on this past May 4 after a long battle with cancer.
