EXCLUSIVE: Dolla Boy From Playaz Circle Changes Name to Dillon Saks; Releases "#2KHustla" Mixtape

LIKE HIS HOMIE 2 CHAINZ, DOLLA BOY CHANGES HIS NAME; RELEASES NEW ALBUM

(AllHipHop News) Dolla Boy, one-half of the group Playaz Circle formed with 2 Chainz, is releasing his 2KHustla street album today (June 12) with Bigga Rankin as host.

The release of the project comes with an announcement that Dolla Boy will be changing his name to “Dillon Saks,” an alter ego who he feels is best suited for his solo work.

“Yeah, man, the name change basically, I guess it was needed because Dolla was more so a part of the group Playaz Circle, and I think that over time Playaz Circle developed a type of sound. Dillon pretty much goes against the grain on everything,” Dolla Boy a.k.a. Dillon Saks told AllHipHop.com in an exclusive interview.

The road for Dillon Saks has been a long one, as he traveled from DTP to YMCMB as a member of Playaz Circle, moving around within the industry and attempting to find the right deal and situation for the group’s needs.

“It’s pretty much like Dolla Boy was part of a group, so we kind of did certain types of music. What you are hearing now is like Dillon Saks and 2 Chainz, and those are solo artists. Before we got with DTP we were solo artists, and now we are getting a chance to show those sides of the artists, because we aren’t held down in a group,” Dillon Saks explained.

While Dillon Saks says his name change was not influenced by longtime collaborator and group member 2 Chainz’ name change, he says you can be sure he wouldn’t mind repeating the success. In a matter of several months, 2 Chainz became an icon and was catapulted to stardom with his name change, going from the well-liked but largely unknown personality of Tity Boi, to doing songs with Justin Bieber and Kanye West.

“From the streets to the music industry itself, we always been down since day one. That’s always gonna my dog,” Dillon Saks explained of his relationship with 2 Chainz. “A lot of people try to drive wedges between us, but that will never happen. With every project that we do, we give fans a Playaz Circle song, so we gone but not really gone. He’s working on his solo album, and I think he got a few Playaz Circle songs on the project.”

To kick off the release of his project last week Dillon Saks released the lead single, “PayCation” featuring 2 Chainz and today, he dropped the video for the song, “Spell Bound,” which is the introduction to the 2KHustla mixtape itself. Dillon Saks’ project also has features from Sean J, Slick Pulla from CTE, and a few other potential surprises.
