SWISHAHOUSE MAKES HISTORY! CHECK THIS STORY OUT!!

(AllHipHop News) Houston record label Swishahouse will be the first record label to be archived in Rice University library’s Special Collections department.

The pioneering Hip-Hop label, which helped popularize the “Chopped and Screwed” style of production, also launched the careers of artists like Slim Thug, Chamillionaire, Paul Wall, Mike Jones and others.

Vintage music, posters, pictures and other items from the early days of the Swishahouse movement will be archived at the Woodson Research Center Special Collections and University Archives, in Rice’s Fondren library.

“We are delighted to be able to initiate this effort with the materials brought to us by Swishahouse,” CERCL founding director Anthony Pinn told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “You can’t think about Hip-Hop without giving attention to the brothers (G Dash and Michael “5000” Watts) who’ve made this happen (through Swishahouse).”

The feat is quite an accomplishment, since Rice University is one of the nation’s Top 20 universities, according to U.S. News & World Report.
