Supreme Court Upholds C-Murder Conviction; Sets Precedent for Criminal Case Convictions

(AllHipHop News) Multi-platinum New Orleans rapper C-Murder was on the losing side of a Supreme Court verdict yesterday (February 19), that will uphold his life long sentence for allegedly murdering a 16-year-old fan in 2002.

While the Supreme Court ruling keeps the former No Limit rapper and TRU Records label head behind bars, organizations like the NAACP have suggested that there be an investigation into the jury’s deliberations that ruled 10-2 to convict C-Murder.

In Louisiana, a vote of 9-3 wouldn’t have been enough to convict C-Murder and jurors have come out after the trial admitting that “abusive” persuasion and threats existed throughout the juror’s deliberations.

The case also brings up the heavily contested legal debate at the federal and state levels about whether or not a unanimous vote should be required to convict potential criminals.

In 2009 C-Murder was sentenced to life in jail, but since then he has appealed the case on several occasions. The latest appeal reached Louisiana’s Supreme Court.

“No DNA,” Miller’s legal team wrote in one of two briefs filed at the 5th Circuit Court of Appeal. “No fingerprints. No gun. No ballistics. No testing for gunshot residue. No incriminating statements. Not one piece of physical evidence directly linking Corey Miller to the shooting. The irreconcilable tales of two flip-flopping, deal-driven and reluctant (to testify) witnesses is the only evidence propping up the state’s case.”

Despite this, C Murder’s appeal was rejected, and now the rapper must serve life in prison for the murder of a 16-year-old named Steve Thomas, in a now defunct nightclub in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.

That’s crazy, I’m left too assume he really didn’t do it due to the lack of evidence and the amount of appeals over the years. You figure if he did he’d eventually just give up and say fornicate it, I fornicated up. Damn I can’t even imagine being and never want to be in his shoes, a life of incarceration. I’m pulling my hair out when the light turns green and cars aint moving as quick as I would like, feeling like they controlling my destiny holding me back lol. Has anyone ever heard Master P speak on this?

    • BulldogCG

P and C had a lil bump over this a few years back. C felt like P was hurting his case or something, I think it got settled, but who knows. I remember listening and not feeling like P said anything, he was just saying young black males gotta stay out of these situations, especially if you famous. Im not sure I assume innocence or anything, C been a known rider, but it definitely shed enough doubt. In NC where im at you gotta have a murder weapon I think, so this wouldnt stand, LA could be different though.

      • InTheNightKitchen

Damn, idk wtf I’d if my brother was in that situation. Without a doubt his hood/stage name didn’t help

Louisiana courts are crooked as hell and always have been since before Huey Long’s days.

  • i’mreloaded!

Wow. Everyone wants to talk about killin in their music until they standin in front of the judge. You don’t know the value of freedom or life until someone strips it from you. Can’t say i feel sorry for him.

  • SAD_FACED_CLOWN

He deserves his sentence I saw the a44hole on camera shooting up a club

    • BUTT-HURT? HE SHOULD HAVE SHOT YOU

      • SAD_FACED_CLOWN

I like when little stupid ghetto children defend these ignorant rappers (calling Cmurder a rapper is a stretch)

      • if there was no physical evidence you should look at the case as a grievance of justice in other words if it can happen to this “rapper” with a lot of money than it can happen to your broke ass if your in the wrong place at the wrong time. just saying CLOWN

      • TEE TWIN CITY

C murder has done for community , prove he did it

      • Sean Taylor

yeah…he DONE killed a person. He DONE sold drugs. What a roll model for his “community”.

    • That was something different and he served the time for that charge ignorant ass.

      • SAD_FACED_CLOWN

does it matter if it was a different occurance or not? he has proven that he does not deserve his freedom and that he’s a danger to society…what kind of man shoots up a club filled with innocent people? isn’t this knee grow supposedly rich? anybody defend this turd is probably a lowlife as well

      • W.E.B. Du Bois

SAD_FACED_CLOWN – just watched the video – along with this conviction – anyone who defend this terrorist has got psyic-atric problems Bro.

      • thuglifefukdapolice

they wouldnt let him in and thats a different case they giving a man ife in prison with no evidence no dna no witness no gun powder residue eat shyt

    • Mitchell Patterson

I don’t see how anybody can defend C-Murder if they’ve seen that video of him shooting up a teen club. They wouldn’t let him in, so he just start blasting(no aiming whatsoever). Little kids runnin…him laughing. He should not be out here with us. Nobody should be convicted of murder without evidence – BUT he should have gotten at least 20 for shootin at those kids and the words “free c-murder” will never leave my lips.

  • Lord Saltsworth McGinty III

I saw a video of this clown shooting into a club after they refused him entry. This b@stard gets no sympathy from me. Rot in jail you ignorant mother@#%$@!

    • SAD_FACED_CLOWN

  • Tre C

the NAACP is involved? That surprising to me. I still feel like C has been trying to push the trial/system was unfair more than “i didn’t do it, i’m innocent. Granted, the system is corrupt but I never understood the “free c-murder campaign”

    • therealest1

NAACP are frontrunners, they only get involved in or try to back high profile cases or cases that will get TV coverage.

  • London

guess you cant take the guy out the hood….. i was just listening to life or death the other day. C was definately a talented rapper. Such a shame for all involved.

    • SAD_FACED_CLOWN

define talented? certainly you are not refering to his rap skills?

      • London

i actually think c-murders flow and voice is very original. just one of the qualities i look for in an artist. but im more talking about what he speaks in his words and the songs he writes. rappers can be good sounding but it takes a real artist to make you feel their music. and i feel his music personally.

      • cmurder was nice

      • TEE TWIN CITY

C got skills y’all heard of me . Listen to duck n run

  • So he has to stay he can never appeal again??

  • WillVetterGoodin

Let this duck rot in a cell. What a great role model for every aspiring “artist” in New Orleans. I bet hell be feeling like a real gangster come the end of his sentence…oh wait, he wont live to see it!

    • thuglifefukdapolice

Its a wrap for this ignorant individual now. Now can we please stop with the ignorantly biased Free C-Murder campaigns?

Its hard to give C-Murder the benefit of the doubt based on the fact they have him on video firing into an entrance of a club in a separate incident.

He also tried to shoot at some people outside of a club, but the gun jammed in another incident. He should’ve learned from that. That should’ve been the best thing to happen to him since no bullets were discharged and no one was sequentially hit in that scenario.

This is the same guy who had his peeps stomp and jump a teenager down to a pulp, then he went up to the kid and shot him point blank range while he was already down based on numerous corroborating accounts from people who were there. You mean this grown man couldn’t handle a kid? Is this the same coward everyone is glorifying and demanding his release? Boy, are we in trouble as a society if people are supporting this clown like that.

If they want C-Murder freed, what about standing up for all the other convicted murderers, rapists, molesters, etc.?

    • thuglifefukdapolice

they have no evidence no dna no gun no gun powder residue no witness
