50 Cent Speaks on Relationship with Floyd Mayweather, Says Floyd “Ducked Manny”

(AllHipHop News) Today (February 28th) Jamaica Queens bred rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson joined ESPN’s First Take to talk about the upcoming Friday Night Fights on March 1 set to air on ESPN, for which his company SMS is a partner in the fight.

Joining a long list of rappers that have participated in the show’s debate, 50 Cent weighed in on SMS Promotions’ sponsored fight at the MGM Grand in Foxwoods in which SMS’s Billy “The Kid” Dib will attempt to defend his IBF Featherweight title against Cuban Olympian and the IBF’s number 3 ranked boxer, Luis Franco.

“I’m excited about it, you know Billy Dib and his opponent, its been a collaboration with Top Rank a lot and I’ve been able to make a good actual relationship with them through communications of trying to do the Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd fight. And then the negotiations of acquiring Yuriorkis Gamboa from Top Rank, so you know after the communications got a little fuzzy between me and Floyd for a little while, I went back to communicating Todd Debarr from Barbarum to make these actual events happen and its been good ever since.”

When asked about the issues revolving around his relationship with Floyd and how he would characterize his relationship with Floyd, 50 said Floyd is was a  person that “flip-flops.”

“Well it’s just who Floyd is. You know he’ll just flip-flop from time to time and its just who he is.  Like his father was like around and was the house trainer for the actual gym we had, so Roger trained him for about 17 years and then he decided he wanted his father around, so Roger was around and then he decided wanted Roger back and his father was around,”

In regards to his relationship with Floyd Mayweather and if the two are actually still friends, 50 Cent explained that yes he was still friends with Floyd despite fighting through his perceived imperfection in Floyd’s character.

“Yea, I mean well if you friends with someone you have to accept their imperfections right? And Floyd is just one of those people that is just going to flip-flop, and he has a lot going on emotionally coming from being incarcerated.  60 days wouldn’t be a lot for people who experienced those things before, but for him it was a traumatic experience and I can’t wait to see how he performs following that because he still hasn’t fought,” 50 Cent said when asked if he was still friends with Floyd Mayweather.

Also while on the show 50 Cent weighed in on the $100 million fight and whether or not Floyd “ducked” Manny Pacquiao.

“Yes, he did duck the fight, that’s $100 million and you just left it,” 50 Cent explained. “I mean for two reasons – I think he concentrates  on how much someone else is getting paid as opposed to how much he’s getting paid and then I think he kind of sees himself in a space that no one else sees himself in, like he’s so high on top of it that he shouldn’t give some of other great fighters a chance to be in that position at this point.

Floyd has yet to comment on 50 Cent’s comments, more news as details emerge.

‘but for him it was a traumatic experience…’ Floyd is a FAG straight up.

First take is my shit…. he didnt bring none of it up. Thsts just the type of questions they ask on the show

Yo 50 is trying to bait dude for whatever reason. Its about money. How about Floyd Mayweather 50 cent fight. Cause 50 after dude manhood right now. He’s baiting him. Why you would ever has business or sort of dealing with a man who plays Mitch games I don’t know. 50 play way to many mind games to be a man. I’m sorry.

  • You know i’m starting to believe there is a ring of truth to “He ducked him” because it just seems with the exception of Roger and Floyd everyone else around him has kind of pointed out to the risk factors involved in this fight like overwhelmingly..to me if enough ppl around you are like “You sure you want to risk that” eventually you start second guessing yourself. I’m not saying he did or didn’t i’m just saying it’s feeling that way to me.

    • “DUCKED” is such a strong word, “Strategically Avoided” fits better.

What is the next big pay day after Manny? As opposed to lining up easier, lucrative fights until then?

$30 Mil for Ortiz again & again >> $100 Mil for Manny & done.

Floyd just signed a 6? fight deal that could make him the highest paid athlete ever….he’s no fool.

Look for Manny to be his last & for Floyd to school him.

      • Lyve Wire

but if floyd loses one of the earlier fights in that new deal, he will take a drastic drop in pay. what was it? 6 fights in 3 years? thats a lot for a guy his age. especially when everybody want to make a name for theirselves by beating him.

      • No one has beaten Floyd yet…unless you count Castillio?

Even if Manny has his #, like Marquez has Manny’s, that doesn’t mean the other 5 do.

Manny last, is still a big fight, not as big, but the other 5 fights are a good cushion…. financially.

      • Lyve Wire

        true.

      • andone

sorry to burst ur bubble but “ducked”= “Strategically Avoided”

$$$ was on the table and floyd went left for watever reason, thats a fact… so wat 50 pointed out sounds fairly accurate considering he was close to the situation @ the height of the hype(the money team)…

never was a may fan but i would have preferred him doing the fight cause he would have still capitalized on it @ the end of the day(win or lose), not to mention it could have a put a rest to all this gossip…

also tomorrow is never promised thats for sure, lord forbid him not being able to get those next six fights in the pocket let alone a match wit pacman… i still look both ways BEFORE i cross the street!!!

      • Indeed, but he doesn’t need the whole 6, A Rod = 250 Mil, so about $45 Mil per fight?
As a fan, yes, I want the Manny fight, enough ‘chet has been talked, but business is business & Floyd makes dollarz!

Two Tomato cans = $90 Mil with 4 more lined up?

Just because tomorrow is never promised…..doesn’t mean you don’t plan for it.

      • andone

never said u shouldnt look forward to things later down the road(pun intended)… but turin down 100mill for one fight doesnt happen every day, either way im still not convinced he made the right choice as far as thats concerned… and i doubt that amount will ever come around again for one fight, there are no other opponents to re-create that type of hype imo!!!

      • The business side?

$100 Mil will come around again, like Ali / Foreman? getting a record $5Mil?

I agree, it seemed like a perfect storm, but Floyd grew up in Boxing, and is probably just as crafty outside of the ring, as he is inside of the ring.

Obviously, Manny needed the fight more than Floyd, and Floyd is getting paper. That new deal is probably a reverse 360, with Floyd getting a piece of everything & and option for more.

        1 Million PPV’s @ $60 Million

De La Hoya May have sold 3X? more PPV’s, but he only earned 2X more $$$, while Mayweather averages the highest? $48 Mil per fight.

        Victor Ortiz X 2 > Manny Paquio X 1
        (Business wise)

After Manny, who else is worth $100 Mil….or even $10 Mil?
The prospect of Manny fighting & winning, is actually worth more than actually fighting & winning.

Floyd has 6 big money fights lined up, “over” 1/4 of a Billion, which will put him over ODLH as overall top PPV earner.

Manny is the boogieman of the division & Floyd needs a boogie man.
That’s not saying this new deal doesn’t involve Manny ( I doubt it does…Manny’s finished? Parkinson??

Floyd has fought far too many greats to fear Manny.

        Floyd > Manny
Mayweather has too much defense and more than enough offense.

      • W.E.B. Du Bois

EDOG – that’s ducking Manny – in sports and competition, which is what made them be in that position – then give what the fans who made them what they want – but he DUCKED MANNY.

      • Floyd is getting that $$$. Just signed the most lucrative deal ever…..which may include Manny?

  • tra mo

U no wats funny is 50 just described himself

    • Unfortunately 50 is an entertainer, he is forgiven for his inequalities because he is only concerned with getting to the top. Floyd on the other hand is an athlete, I do not believe that his character should come into question. Floyd can let his talking occur in the ring.

  • greeneyedbandit

Floyd is too busy doing interviews about his departure from HBO to Showtime, to entertain negativity. I can’t believe 50…..he’ll sh*t on you without conscience. I wish Floyd the best in his career and personal life.

  • Barclay1988Chucky

Floyd is my man, but I don’t really think it was his fault, because he mainly wanted a test done, and his right share of money for the fight, but Pacquiao’s team just kept picking fights and then trying to build a larger seating capacity for MGM Grand (Bob Arum), and picking non suitable dates! It kinda goes both ways, because Floyd was picking fights ahead of Pacquiao also, so it goes both ways.

  • I bet Floyd was pissed see me on Doyouvideos

Is Manny Pacquiao the guy that got knocked out in the sixth round by Juan Manuel Marquez???(sarcasm) lol

  • Booya!

I dont need 50 cent to convince me. Floyd plunked out! Why is it so hard for people to understand! Who cares if manny got knocked out! He asked Floyd to fight and he chickened out!

    • trilltalk1

you wrong about that my man, they offered pacman 40 mil and he turned it down. that 40 mil would have been the biggest payday pacman ever saw. so they were ducking each other not just floyd ducking pacman.

  • dayleedumped

you dont need analytical reasons to prove that Mayweather was ducking manny… boxers are suppose to fight. and if your the “best” at something or “the champ”, your suppose to defend that, to anybody, especially those that are worthy of your time… but then again we’re in that day of age where if somebody disses you in hiphop, you dont even reply so..

  • Carbo

Floyd is pretty greedy when it comes to giving the other fighter a piece of the purse. Especially if they are a big name like Pacquiao. That is one part of the equation that stalled the fight and the other part had to do with Manny not wanting to take Random blood test. They both were at fault for letting the fight everyone wanted to see not happen.

  • Good shit from 50
