Emmett Till’s Family Rejects Lil Wayne’s “Apology”

(AllHipHop News) It seems like Emmett Till’s family is quite clear on what they wanted from Lil Wayne – an apology – and now they reject a letter that the rapper wrote to them today.

Lil Wayne may have used some clever wordplay in a publicist-issued letter issued today that seemed to be a formal apology for lyrics i “Karate Chop.” In the song, the rapper metaphorically speaking on how he would physically beat up a woman’s private parts like Emmett Till.

The Till family got the letter and said there was no actual apology in it.

Airickca Gordon-Taylor, Executive Director, Mamie Till Mobley Memorial Foundation and Till Family Representative, released the following statement.

We are aware of Lil Wayne’s statement of acknowledgement of our family’s pain and our disapproval of referencing Emmett Till in his lyrical content.

While it’s commendable that he has vowed to respect the legacy of Emmett Till and his memory to ‘not use or reference Emmett Till or the Till family in his music’, this statement falls short of an apology, as none is mentioned.

Lil Wayne has not commented on the matter yet.

Read the whole letter here.

Just apologize like a man if you mean it. We are all wrong at times, either you are a bitch who cant admit ones flaws/mistakes or you are a real person who can apologize for acting stupid.

I dont think he feels wrong. Im also not sure he is. Not a big Wayne defender, but it is a metaphor, sure he used a sensative topic, but how many young people googled emmit till and got an education out of it, this generation loses track if history? Im conflicted, I would appreciate senstitivity to such an issue, but I also feel people are too sensitive. They are just artists, not presidential candidates.

    • RMfag

Those young idiots SHOULD know who Emmett Till was, especially black men since they love white tits and puzzy so darn much.

  • Yushwa

You gotta be a fuckin idiot to justify Wayne’s action and choice to make reference to a issue like Emmit Till (Metaphor or not). It wasn’t even a hot line to begin with. Suppose he made another retarded metaphor like “My rhymes spit harder than the slug that hit Martin Luther’s dome”. Would you say that’s just a metaphor and people are being too sensitive? Stop making excuses for this retarded ass clown. This fool apologized to Lebron and the Heat early, but took two months to respond to the Till family, clearly after they threatened to compromise his Mountain Dew money. The same applied to Rick Ross, issuing an apology after the public went after his Reebok contract.

  • Slaughtr

PLAIN AND SIMPLE THERE IS NOTHING TO BE CONFLICTED ABOUT ARTISTICLY THE LINE WHACK AS SHYT AND FOR REAL ISN’T THE REAL ACCOUNT OF WENT DOWN SO WHY RHYME SOME DUMB SHYT.TOO MANY IN THIS GENERATION THINK IT’S OK TO PRY ON CERTOFIED CLOSED TOPICS LIFE DON’T RUN LIKE THAT,PUT YOURSELF IN THE TILL FAMILY POSITION AND TELL ME HOW YOU WOULD REACT.NO JUSTIFICATION BRUH ….PERIOD END OF STORY AND THE CONVERSATION.WHICH DO YOU WANT ART OR TRASH?

  • Charismatic eNegro Jef Vinson

If you read the letter, he never said he was sorry.

  • This is becoming a bigger issue than Wayne’s camp thought. They should have learned their lesson from the Ross/Reebok issue. An apology does no good for Wayne now. The letter barely seems like he is sorry for his actions.

I understand artistic freedom, but I also have a moral compass. To even mention a murdered kid in an inflammatory way is just foolish. I don’t blame the family for holding Wayne’s feet to the fire. Scrap that politically correct half hearted apology that was penned by your handlers and apologize with the same mouth that’s drummed up such hurtful feeling for young Emmit Till’s family.

  • Rappers need to know where to draw the line on their lyrics.

How would Wayne feel if the tables were turned. I’m sure
he will get all his goons out feeling he was dissed.

    • PharaohRA

what goons? drake? tyga? nicki? pfffhahahahahaa

      • WhatupJ

All those goons that stood up for him when 40 glocc and 4 guys stopped his convoy. WTF was that sh!t. But on the real we know drake might catch a body real quick (or whatever that dumb line was). Haha on tyga, when i think of scary goon first thing that pops into my mind is Tyga.

      • PharaohRA

hired bodygaurds arent goons theyre merc’s lol wayne has no loyal goons just paid bodygaurds and 40 glocc ain even real he got beat up by game and he runs up on FAKE artist or soft ppl. hes an act wayne is an act game is, 95% of the industry is an act.

  • brotha_man

he probably didnt even write the letter, all apologies must be done in person
    #rulesoflife

  • Mob BanCster

They probably listened to some more of his music and was like “Aw hell naw, nigga you ain’t sorry!”

  • Banksy

If he apologizes than that means he’s admitting to wrong doing, which leaves him open for a law suit.
